Bio

Greetings! I am Roberto Talenti, PhD Candidate in Agri-Environmental Law (PhD programme in Human Rights and Global Politics).

My research interests generally pertain the study of climate change governance at the Global and EU level through critical lenses.

The PhD thesis that I am currently working on focuses on the analysis of the EU regulatory framework that governs the mitigation of emissions from the livestock sector through a beyond-growth perspective. Furthermore, I have conducted some research aimed at debunking the mainstream concept of sustainable development, critiquing the neoliberal bias underpinning the climate change regime, and highlighting the intrinsic limitations of a state-centric approach to inter-national climate change law.

I have previous experience as EU policy analyst at Confagricoltura (lobbying organization whose political vision and strategy I do not align with), I served as a junior researcher at the Istituto Affari Internazionali, and I held a position as visiting researcher at the European Environmental Bureau. I am now working as a visiting doctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Lastly, in 2023, I have been appointed as member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in international and Diplomatic Affairs from the University of Bologna, a joint Master’s degree in International Security Studies from the University of Trento and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, and an LLM in International and European Law from the University of Tilburg.

Thank you very much for looking at my profile description. If you need any further information or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
