VISITORS IN JUNE 2018

At the end of June 2018, Sant’Anna will host another visitor with research interests related to EMbeDS.

László Györfi is a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Computer Science and Information Theory – part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is also a Member of The Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2001. His research interests include various aspects of Probability (e.g., Stochastic approximation) and Statistics (e.g., non-parametric methods, density and entropy estimation, testing, regression, and pattern recognition) as well as applications to Economics and Finance – in particular, he is part of a research group investigating Log-Optimal Portfolios.

László will interact with Giulio Bottazzi and his group, and hold a series of four lectures for the students of the PhD in Economics. The series, which is titled "Information theory and growth optimal portfolio selection", is open to all interested students and researchers. Lectures will be held at the following times and locations:
