The National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) and the Management and Health Laboratory (MeS) of the Institute of Management of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna conducted a large-scale survey (12,322 residents of all the Regions and Autonomous Provinces) photographing the attitudes of the Italian population towards vaccine and vaccination against Covid-19. A report presenting key results was presented in Rome, at the Agenas headquarters, on February 19th 2021.

The report explores three relevant aspects: it characterizes the attitudes of the Italian population towards the vaccine and the vaccination campaign; it identifies the issues on which the Italian population would want to have more information; and it measures the relative value of different factors influencing the propensity towards the vaccine.

"The data we have presented can be very useful - says Sabina Nuti, the Rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna - to promote actions at local, regional and national levels to convince the population to get vaccinated. - We still have 17% of people who do not intend to get vaccinated and a further 17% of undecided. Efficient communication, appropriate logistics, efficiency in the delivery process are the keywords for the success of the vaccination campaign".

"In line with similar experiences at an international level, - says Paola Cantarelli, researcher at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna - this work demonstrates how theories from the behavioral sciences and experimental research methods can aid policy makers in implementing complex, multidimensional public policies".
